Job DescriptionTo lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum goals and objectives into learning experiences for each individual student in the district.
Responsibilities- Instructional: Plans and implements the district‑approved program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement curriculum goals and motivate learning. Prepares a weekly written lesson plan correlated with curriculum objectives. Monitors and assesses student progress and communicates results regularly to students and parents. Diagnoses, instructs, and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance from district specialists as required.
Communicates curriculum aims in a clear, organized manner. - Climate: Creates a classroom environment respectful and conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests. Assists administration in implementing policies and rules that develop proper student behavior. Develops and implements reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure that are fair and just.
- Student Relationships: Creates educational experiences that provide each student the opportunity to develop their potential in personal‑social adjustment, decision‑making, positive self‑image, and other life skills.
- Professional: Promotes and follows the adopted school district philosophy, policies, regulations, and administrative procedures. Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents, and community in a positive, professional, and ethical manner. Opens lines of communication with students and parents regarding academics and behavior. Assumes legal responsibility for supervision of students on school property or during school‑sponsored activities. Maintains and strives to improve professional competence.
Undertakes assigned committee work, student activities, supervision, and planning. Maintains accurate, complete, legible records. Protects students, equipment, and facilities. Cooperates with staff in planning instruction and selecting materials. Plans and supervises assignments for teacher assistants or volunteers. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees. Performs related duties as assigned. Treats the public courteously. Is alert to hazardous conditions that threaten safety. - Personal: Maintains consistent attendance. Conducts businesslike and task‑oriented behavior. Is available to students and parents outside regular instructional day as required. Demonstrates efficient, effective duties under stressful or contentious situations. Collaborates and resolves disputes, fostering consensus. Avoids alcohol or illegal drugs during duty. Refrains from consumption on district property or during school events.
- Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited four‑year college or university.
- Valid Arizona teacher’s certificate for the appropriate grade level and/or subject matter.
- Meets North Central Association requirements for the assigned subject area.
- Possesses required subject endorsements per state, federal, or district policy.
- Ability to manage productive student groups.
- Accountable for student growth in all areas consistent with district objectives.
- Evidence of comprehensive background in child development, instructional strategies, curricular implementation, learning theory, and school research.
