Job SummaryAs a Senior Project Manager in our Tucson, AZ office, you will manage and deliver projects related to water/wastewater infrastructure and treatment, manage the preparation of design documents and specifications, and manage the complete design and delivery of projects in southern Arizona. Experience with similar municipal projects is required along with an Arizona PE registration. You will be onsite in Tucson and report to our corporate office in Phoenix, AZ.
You will represent NCS Engineers on projects in southern Arizona and will be the first position filled in NCS’ Tucson office.
- Minimum of BS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of design engineering with a focus on water/wastewater municipal projects
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
- PE registration in Arizona

Qualifications/Skills RequirementsExpertise in the following for work related to water/wastewater infrastructure and treatment facilities:
- Familiarity with treatment processes and equipment
- Project management
- Ability to manage and work independently on design projects.
- Knowledge of material properties and corrosion
- Detailed knowledge of civil, mechanical, piping and equipment design for water infrastructure and treatment facilities, such as; groundwater well and equipping, booster pump stations, water storage tanks and reservoirs, and groundwater and surface water treatment
- Detailed knowledge of civil, mechanical, piping and equipment design for wastewater infrastructure and treatment plants, such as: gravity sewer main design (in Civil 3D a plus), sewer force main design, lift station design, wastewater treatment plants
- Working knowledge of electrical design and instrumentation and controls
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers/vendors.
- Ability to make presentations to clients
- Has the ability to travel, as required for projects, client and business development needs.
- Organized and self-motivated, strong interpersonal communication skills required.
- Possess excellent time-management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and available resources.
- Use of Microsoft Project scheduling software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including detailed report preparation.
- Excellent computer, math, and English skills.
- Client management, marketing, and business development expertise
- Familiarity and expertise with advanced water and/or wastewater treatment processes and equipment
- Knowledge of master planning and hydraulic models for water distribution systems and open channel flow
- Knowledge and experience and master planning and hydraulic models for sewer collection systems and force mains
- Land development experience
- Project Management Professional Certification or equivalent
- OSHA 10-Hour or 40-Hour General Construction Safety and Health
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software and PC programs
- Manage, plan, specify, and design municipal water and wastewater infrastructure and treatment facilities, including facility and equipment layout, and coordination with other engineering disciplines and subconsultants.
- Manage the development of design reports
- Oversee a project team of engineers, drafters/designers, and coordinate with other disciplines.
- Management of the construction phase of projects as needed.
- Responsible for budget, scheduling, reviewing field activities, invoices, approving labor time, costs, and procurement.
- Be responsive to clients' needs and keep other department managers informed of site conditions and activities.
- Plan and procure all necessary equipment for the project in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Lead vendor management and procurement, i.e., labor/material cost estimates.
- Responsible for all regulatory, environmental, and operational permits for a project.
- Practice safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
- Develop new business and manage client relationships.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift, up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel to various job sites and traverse locations to obtain necessary data.
