Mechanical Design Engineer – Test Systems
Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Salary: $130K - $140K
We are hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop advanced test systems and mechanical assemblies supporting high-reliability aerospace and defense hardware. In this role, you’ll work across mechanical design, CAD modeling (Creo), and system integration, building solutions used for environmental testing (vibration, thermal, RF, and electro-optical systems).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical test systems and fixtures for environmental testing (vibration, thermal, hydraulic, RF, electro-optical)
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings (Creo / ProE), including GD&T and tolerance analysis
- Support system integration, validation, and testing to meet accuracy, reliability, and performance requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production and test environments, recommending design improvements
- Collaborate with electrical, systems, and manufacturing teams on hardware integration and packaging
- Contribute to continuous improvement, root‑cause analysis, and design optimization
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, test systems, or product development
- 3+ years of experience with 3D CAD tools (Creo / ProE preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design principles
- Experience supporting hardware integration, validation, or production environments
- U.S. Citizenship required;
Clearance or ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Security Clearance
- Experience with mechanical packaging and electro‑mechanical systems
- Background in aerospace, defense, or high‑reliability systems
- Experience with environmental testing (vibration, shock, thermal, ESS)
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (Windchill, PDM)
- Exposure to thermal or structural analysis
- Systems engineering or cross‑functional integration experience
