Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

• Under close supervision, assists in providing technical support and advice in Metallurgical testing and analysis at assigned site.
• Assists in Metallurgical studies and conducting analyses
• Prepares standard reports on Metallurgical or process issues and assists in recommending appropriate action to resolve or correct issues
• Assists in reviewing new or enhanced Metallurgical testing equipment or protocols
• Assists in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
• Develops and maintains an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations applicable to area of assignment
• Performs other duties as required

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry or related Engineering discipline
• Knowledge of the basic principles and methods used in Metallurgical and processing analyses
• Able to conduct research and analyze information or considerable difficulty to draw valid conclusions
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Assist in metallurgical study, development testing and analyses of designs, processes, or procedures
• Report on Metallurgical or process issues and make recommendations to CI seniors/superintendents on how to resolve/correct the issues
• Review and recommend new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols
• Contribute to the improvement of metallurgical processes
• Strong commitment to safety, with experience training teams and maintaining compliance documentation
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
• Strong problem solving, decision making, and pattern recognition skills
• Strong commitment to driving operational excellence and fostering continuous improvement

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$80,000-$110,000
. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
