The Permitting and Environmental Manager is responsible for leading all environmental compliance, permitting, and regulatory affairs activities for mining operations and development projects in Arizona. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while supporting project development, operations, reclamation, and closure activities. The role serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and consultants and provides strategic guidance to support sustainable and responsible mining practices.

Overview
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, including requirements under the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Endangered Species Act, and other federal and Arizona regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee environmental monitoring programs, reporting requirements, inspections, and audits.
  • Manage compliance with permits, licenses, and approvals associated with mining operations and development projects.
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action plans related to environmental issues.
  • Manage all aspects of obtaining, maintaining, and modifying permits required for exploration, development, operations, and closure activities.
  • Prepare and review permit applications, technical reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Lead National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) processes and support Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
  • Monitor regulatory developments and provide recommendations regarding potential impacts to company operations and projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering, Natural Resources, or a related discipline required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of environmental and permitting experience, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Experience with copper, precious metals, or industrial minerals operations is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience managing permitting and compliance programs in Arizona and/or the southwestern United States.
  • Experience with NEPA, state and federal permitting, reclamation, and closure planning.
  • Proven track record working with agencies such as ADEQ, BLM, USFS, EPA, and ADWR.
