Senior Mortgage Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter with active FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA SAR recommended, not required
, to join our underwriting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and approving mortgage loan applications to ensure they meet all investor and agency guidelines, with a focus on FHA and VA products along with NON-QM and Construction.

• Underwrite and issue credit decisions on FHA, VA, conventional mortgage loans in compliance with agency, investor, and company guidelines.
• Utilize automated underwriting systems (AUS), such as DU and LP, to assess loan files.
• Review income, assets, credit, and collateral documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Perform detailed analysis of appraisals and property valuations, particularly for VA loans (SAR recommended).
• Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions to internal stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
• Work closely with loan officers, processors, and other team members to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Maintain knowledge of industry regulations, investor guidelines, and company policies.
• Participate in quality control efforts and assist in audits or internal reviews as needed.

• Must be in Arizona or Pacific Time Zone
• Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience with a strong track record in FHA and VA loan products.
• Active VA SAR (Staff Appraisal Reviewer) certification recommended

• Thorough knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, CONSTRUCTION, AND NON-QM guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
