The Property Tax Consultant works with a team to identify tax savings opportunities for residential property owners and to understand how each client computes tax components. The role involves researching issues, reconciling databases, preparing detailed calculations, and collaborating with tax authorities to resolve disputes.
Responsibilities- Research and analyze tax issues to identify savings opportunities.
- Reconcile client databases and verify tax records.
- Prepare and review property reports and renditions.
- Analyze assessment notices and determine potential assessment reductions.
- File appeals and determine liability for development projects.
- Work with tax incentive issues for clients.
- Attend client meetings and property inspections.
- Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
- Communicate effectively through written and verbal channels.
- Interact frequently with team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Information Systems, Business Analytics, Finance, or related field. - Required coursework: 6 hours of Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or Finance with a GPA of 2.80 or higher.
- Preferred experience:
One to three years of audit or tax-related roles, or internship experience. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and work independently or within a team.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet research.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Standard indoor environment; occasional long periods of sitting at a computer. Regular interaction with firm employees, clients, and external vendors. Independent travel required up to 10-20%.
