A large financial services organization is hiring a full‑time Sr. Staff Systems Engineer with deep Linux expertise, based in Scottsdale, AZ. This role focuses on building and supporting enterprise‑scale Linux infrastructure across hybrid environments, with a strong emphasis on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, AWS cloud services, and automation using tools like Ansible and Terraform. This is a highly technical, hands‑on position for someone who enjoys operating at the systems level and digging into complex problems.
The team is looking for an engineer who can go beyond surface‑level fixes, truly troubleshoot down to root cause, and help modernize infrastructure through automation and cloud adoption. You will be working in a high‑visibility environment supporting critical systems, with exposure to encryption, containerization, and evolving Dev Ops practices.
- Strong experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux in enterprise environments
- Ability to confidently work from the command line and troubleshoot OS‑level issues
- Experience building and maintaining Linux systems on VMware or similar virtualization platforms
- Strong troubleshooting skills across performance, storage, networking, and system‑level failures
- Experience with automation tools, with a focus on Ansible and some exposure to Terraform
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, and monitoring tools
- Knowledge of encryption concepts and secure system design
- Ability to support production systems in an on‑call rotation
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Experience with encryption platforms or key management solutions
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
- Scripting experience using Bash, Python, or similar languages
- Experience working in large, enterprise‑scale environments
