A leading financial technology organization is hiring a Senior Linux Systems Engineer for a full-time hybrid position in Chicago, IL (also open to Scottsdale, San Francisco, or New York). This role focuses on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware virtualization, and AWS cloud services, supporting high-availability systems that process large-scale financial transactions.

RequiredSkills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience administering Linux systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Strong knowledge of Linux internals and kernel-level concepts
- Experience in large enterprise environments with distributed infrastructure
- Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Hands-on experience with VMware or similar virtualization platforms
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC
- Automation experience using Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl
- Experience with system patching, performance tuning, and system hardening
- Strong understanding of encryption and security best practices
- Certifications such as RHCE or AWS Solutions Architect
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Podman
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
- Exposure to multiple Linux distributions
- Experience in financial services or other regulated industries
- Building and configuring Linux servers in both virtualized and cloud environments
- Maintaining and optimizing system performance and availability
- Implementing automation and infrastructure as code practices
- Supporting incident response and root cause analysis efforts
- Collaborating with internal teams and external vendors
