Senior Orchestration Engineer

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Designs, develops, and troubleshoots moderately complex software and applications in support of establishing a sustainable institutional technological infrastructure.

We are looking for an outstanding Orchestration Engineer with a focus on Software Defined Networking (SDN) to help advance our automation transformation within the ET Engineering Core. You will play a key role in identifying areas of improvement in Engineering processes and tools, collaborating with other Orchestration Engineering team members, building automation solutions, and investigating cutting edge technologies that will help bring value.

You will imbue agile thinking and Dev Ops techniques into the Engineering automation development process.

Key work responsibilities include:

• Working as part of Dev Ops teams on orchestration initiatives
• Developing network automation using Python and Ansible for CI/CD
• Participating in design and architecture sessions
• Supporting engineers in their day to day operations
• Participating in and building a network automation community of practice

• Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit’s efficiency and overall performance.
• Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
• Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.
• One or more years of development experience using Python
• Experience with design, engineering, and support of Enterprise systems
• Experience with automating and managing system and software deployments
• Experience with automation using open tools like Ansible
• Experience with IT practices such as:
  Agile, ITIL, Dev Ops
• Experience with Dev Ops tools such as Jira/Confluence, Jenkins, Ansible, and Git/Git Hub

• Experience/certifications for public cloud (primarily AWS but also Azure and Google Cloud)
• Experience with Linux and/or Windows OS, including patch management and system maintenance
• Demonstrable scripting skills (i.e., Bash/Ksh, Powershell, Perl, Python, Ruby)
• Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools (i.e., Ansible, SCCM, DSC, Terraform, Jenkins)
