Overview
The Departmental Technology Supervisor serves as the primary technology liaison and business systems leader for the department. The position is responsible for supervising a small team of technology professionals while providing strategic and operational support for business applications, system implementations, process improvements, reporting, and customer support. It combines technical expertise, project management, business analysis, and leadership responsibilities to ensure technology solutions effectively support departmental operations.
The incumbent works closely with business stakeholders, IT staff, software vendors, and consultants to maintain existing systems, implement new technologies, improve business processes, and provide exceptional support to internal customers.
Supervise a small team of technology professionals.
Provide strategic and operational support for business applications, system implementations, process improvements, reporting, and customer support.
Translate business needs into technical solutions, manage competing priorities, analyze complex operational challenges, and lead staff through organizational and technological change.
Develop strong partnerships across multiple business areas and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Five years of experience directly working on computer-based information systems’ software, with a focus on system administration and management including programming/scripting languages in support of medium to large enterprise applications.
- One year of lead or supervisory experience.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job‑related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with no major citations within the past 39 months.
- Level D – Technical Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) Network Terminal Operator certification (training provided on duty, testing completed within first six months).
- Residency requirement: employee must reside in the State of Arizona during active employment by the City.
