IT Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO) in support of the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS). The client is a federally recognized tribal community located northeast of Phoenix, bordering Scottsdale, Tempe, and Mesa.
This position is dedicated to the healthcare division of DHHS, which operates a single healthcare facility. As part of a centralized PMO consisting of six Project Managers and one PMO Supervisor, the Senior IT Project Manager will partner closely with healthcare leadership, IT teams, and business stakeholders to successfully deliver technology initiatives that improve patient care, operational efficiency, and organizational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who takes the time to understand business needs, builds strong relationships with stakeholders, and guides projects through successful implementation while supporting organizational change.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of IT projects supporting the Department of Health & Human Services.
- Manage a portfolio of technology initiatives, including:
- Software implementation projects
- Hardware deployment and refresh projects
- Technology adoption, training, and change management initiatives
- Collaborate with healthcare leadership, operational teams, IT staff, vendors, and business stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
- Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements to identify opportunities for process improvements and technology enhancements.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and status reports.
- Facilitate project meetings and provide regular communication regarding project progress, risks, issues, and milestones.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and effectively delegate project tasks while maintaining accountability for project outcomes.
- Support organizational change management efforts by ensuring users are prepared for new technologies through training, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.
- Ensure projects align with departmental priorities, organizational goals, and PMO standards and methodologies.
- Foster strong relationships across multiple departments by promoting collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of IT Project Management experience leading technology initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Proven experience managing multiple concurrent projects with cross-functional teams.
- Strong ability to collaborate with stakeholders across multiple departments and organizational levels.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively while maintaining project accountability.
- A thoughtful, patient, and collaborative approach to project leadership, with a focus on listening, learning, and understanding business needs before implementing change.
- Experience managing project schedules, budgets, risks, and project documentation.
- Experience supporting healthcare organizations, hospitals, clinics, or health systems.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with technology change management and user adoption initiatives.
- Familiarity with healthcare software implementations, IT infrastructure projects, or clinical technology environments.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to build trust and establish productive working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Comfortable facilitating meetings, resolving project issues, and communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and supporting organizational goals through technology.
This position works closely with the Department of Health & Human Services while being part of the centralized PMO supporting multiple departments across the organization. The role requires regular collaboration with business leaders, healthcare staff, IT professionals, and external vendors to ensure successful project delivery and technology adoption.
