Fund Counsel

Balbec Capital LP is looking for someone to join firm’s Legal team. This role will provide support to the legal and compliance program generally with a focus on all fund related legal matters. The role involves some limited travel to Balbec’s other offices in Atlanta, New York and London.

Ideal candidate should have:

• 3 years post law school experience working in an investment fund practice
• Detail oriented, with strong organization, analytical and communication skills
• Ability to work with multiple departments across the organization

• Providing day-to-day legal and compliance support across multiple private funds and accounts
• Reviewing fund legal documents, including PPMs, LPAs, subscription agreements, and side letters
• Handling investor onboarding and transfers
• Reviewing fund marketing materials and investor communications
• Partnering with compliance, investor relations, and investment teams on capital raising and fund operations
• Assisting with regulatory filings (Form ADV, Form PF, CFTC exemptions, international filings, others)
• Developing summaries of legal and regulatory updates for firm leadership
• Assisting with compliance testing and program management
• Supporting compliance and legal team during external audits

• JD
• Minimum 2 years of experience within an investment fund practice or similar practice
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  
  Self-starter with the initiative to seek out opportunities and implement process and policy enhancements
