Overview

The Local Sourcing Specialist II supports the execution and continuous improvement of local and regional produce sourcing programs. This role works closely with Sourcing Managers, growers, packers, and internal partners to help support reliable supply, product quality, program accuracy, and timely execution.

This position supports sourcing activities for assigned local and regional produce programs by coordinating supplier communication, tracking harvest and supply updates, maintaining sourcing documentation, assisting with reporting, and helping identify issues that may impact product availability, quality, cost, or service. The role may participate in field visits, supplier meetings, and cross-functional discussions to gather information, share updates, and support program execution.

The ideal candidate has practical knowledge of produce sourcing, agriculture, supply chain, or merchandising, with strong organization, communication, analytical, and follow-up skills.

We are seeking candidates who reside in Southern Arizona, including areas such as Nogales, Yuma, and surrounding communities.

Overview Of Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with growers, shippers, packers, field teams, and internal partners to gather updates related to harvest timing, supply availability, product quality, and logistics readiness.
  • Maintain sourcing trackers, supplier records, program timelines, documentation, and communication logs to support visibility and execution.
  • Monitor crop, harvest, and regional supply updates; identify potential issues and elevate concerns to the appropriate Sourcing Manager.
  • Assist with supplier onboarding activities, including documentation, program setup, contact information, and follow-up on required materials.
  • Support Sourcing Managers with supplier communication, program administration, seasonal planning activities, and preparation for supplier meetings.
  • Participate in field visits, supplier meetings, or facility visits as needed to observe operations, gather information, and support program execution.
  • Support basic supply performance reporting, including service levels, quality updates, availability, and other program metrics.
  • Assist with analysis of supplier performance, quality trends, supply risks, and operational issues to help inform sourcing decisions.
  • Partner with Merchandising, Quality Assurance, Transportation, Replenishment, and Operations teams to share updates and support timely issue resolution.
  • Assist with basic market and crop research to provide context on regional growing conditions, harvest timing, crop transitions, and category performance.
  • Help identify process improvements, documentation gaps, or workflow efficiencies and support implementation under manager guidance.
  • Support food safety, traceability, sustainability, and regulatory documentation needs as directed.
  • Prepare summaries, reports, meeting notes, and follow-up items for internal stakeholders.
  • Travel occasionally within growing regions to support supplier engagement, crop updates, or business reviews as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain, Business, Food Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in produce sourcing, procurement support, agriculture, produce operations, supply chain, grower relations, merchandising, or related field.
  • Practical knowledge of fresh produce production, harvesting practices, packing operations, quality standards, and supply chain workflows.
  • Basic understanding of seasonal growing regions, crop transitions, supply availability, and market conditions.
  • Experience supporting communication with growers, shippers, packers, suppliers, or agricultural partners preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records, trackers, timelines, and reporting tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to gather information, explain updates, and coordinate follow-up across internal and external partners.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to review supply data, quality updates, service levels, and supplier information to identify trends or concerns.
