Family Promise of Greater Phoenix is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer to lead and grow our major donor and legacy giving programs. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a key member of the Development Team, this position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift and planned giving prospects and donors.
The Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer will develop meaningful relationships with individuals, families, foundations, and community leaders who are passionate about preventing and ending family homelessness. This role will create and execute strategies that increase philanthropic investment, strengthen donor engagement, and build a sustainable pipeline of future support through legacy and estate gifts.
The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraiser who enjoys connecting with donors, listening to their stories, aligning their passions with our mission, and helping them create lasting impact for families experiencing homelessness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Major Gifts Program:
- Build, manage, and grow an active portfolio of approximately 125–150 major donor prospects and supporters.
- Develop individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for assigned donors.
- Conduct regular donor visits, calls, and engagement meetings to deepen relationships and increase philanthropic support.
- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts at the $5,000+ level and above.
- Partner with the CEO and Development Team to develop strategies for high-capacity donor engagement.
- Prepare compelling proposals, gift agreements, presentations, and impact reports for donors and prospects.
- Track donor interactions, strategies, and next steps within the donor database.
- Ensure timely and meaningful stewardship activities, including donor recognition, impact reporting, and personalized communication.
- Collaborate with board members, volunteers, and community leaders to identify and engage prospective donors.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive planned giving strategy that increases legacy gift commitments.
- Manage and grow the Family Promise Legacy Society.
- Educate donors and professional advisors about charitable estate planning opportunities, including bequests, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and qualified charitable distributions.
- Create stewardship and recognition opportunities for legacy donors.
- Maintain accurate documentation of planned gift intentions and commitments.
- Stay informed on current planned giving trends, tax considerations, and charitable giving vehicles.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the CEO and Development Team to achieve annual fundraising goals.
- Support donor engagement events and opportunities that cultivate major and planned gift prospects.
- Assist in developing donor-centered communications and impact stories.
- Participate in strategic planning and fundraising initiatives that advance organizational priorities.
- Represent Family Promise of Greater Phoenix in the community, building awareness and support for the mission.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all donor interactions.
- Maintain accurate donor records and contact reports in the CRM system.
