Provides general nursing care to patients in the clinic. Administers medications per standing orders or physician‑written orders, practicing within the Registered Nurse scope.
- Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials; prepares equipment and assists physicians during treatments and examinations.
- Observes, records, and reports changes in patients’ medical conditions, informing physicians immediately and following through accordingly; educates patients and families about procedures and medications.
- Ensures patients with changing medical conditions receive immediate attention and priority.
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information; ensures pre‑op phone calls are made and patients fully meet protocol for the scheduled procedure.
- Responds to or refers incoming patient treatment‑related phone calls; instructs patients and families regarding medication and treatment instructions.
- Monitors patients’ conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments, liaising with physicians.
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in the recovery of patients post‑procedure.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise and professionalism when responding to emergency situations.
- Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of patient and organizational data.
ADN/BSN
EXPERIENCEMinimum of two years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital environment, preferably pre‑op/post‑op and/or surgery center.
KNOWLEDGE- Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, and delivery of physical care following a treatment plan.
- Knowledge of assessing patients with chronic medical conditions and understanding of the pathophysiology of disease processes.
- Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques that encourage patients to participate in their care.
- Insertion of intravenous catheters.
- Analytical skill in interpreting medical records and gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
- Skill in evaluating and revising patient care based on symptoms and objective assessment.
- Responsibly making decisions within the Registered Nurse scope of practice and clinic protocols.
- Providing educational materials about procedures performed.
- Ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Maintaining open communication with providers.
- Collaborating with all members of the health care team.
- Normal office environment.
- Some travel within the community.
- Potential shifts ranging from 10–12 hours.
