MedSurg Nurse Manager

Overview

Med Surg Nurse Manager leads the medical‑surgical unit of a 600+ bed hospital in Southern Arizona, focusing on patient‑centered care, quality outcomes, and a culture of safety. The role supports a high‑acuity adult inpatient service, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and drives initiatives such as staffing, throughput, quality, and accreditation readiness.

• Lead staffing, scheduling, and resource stewardship for the medical‑surgical unit.
• Develop and implement throughput and capacity strategies to improve patient flow.
• Manage quality and safety initiatives—including falls, pressure injury (HAPI), and healthcare‑associated infection (HAI) prevention.
• Oversee budget responsibilities, resource allocation, and accreditation readiness.
• Partner with physicians, APPs, pharmacy, PT/OT, case management, and social work to deliver coordinated care.
• Mentor, educate, and support nursing staff through coaching, simulation, and shared governance.
• Champion diversity, inclusion, and compassionate, relationship‑based care throughout the unit.
