Position Objective
Maintain security presence at the school complex by walking around the facility and monitoring activities and students; report unauthorized personnel to the school office. Ensure safety of students through identification of safety violations, diffusing student situations, and reinforcing positive social behavior. Perform minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to keep environment free of litter and dangerous situations. Perform other duties as assigned.
Pay Grade: B
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Duties & Responsibilities- Provides a security presence at the school complex by walking around the facility and monitoring activities and students; reports the presence of unauthorized personnel to the school office.
- Monitors activities on campus to ensure the safety of students, which may include identifying safety violations, diffusing situations among students, and reinforcing positive social behavior.
- Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to keep the environment free of litter and/or dangerous situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements- Ability to complete Crossing Guard training.
- Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
- Basic safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures.
- Customer service principles.
- Recognizing potential security risks.
- Providing customer service.
- Communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public, sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Positions in this class typically require reaching, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary work involves exclusive sitting most of the time; occasional walking and standing are required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
