Overview

The Lead Security Officer is responsible for leading and performing both administrative and operational duties for all security-related functions during an assigned shift. This position provides protection for Tuba City Regional Healthcare Corporation (TCRHCC) personnel, patients, visitors, and property, ensuring a safe and secure environment across the facility. The Lead Security Officer oversees all on-site security operations during their shift and serves as the primary point of contact for law enforcement agencies in the absence of the Assistant Security Manager (ASM) and Security Manager.

The role requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality. Key responsibilities include supporting and administering organizational security plans, monitoring operations for compliance with established procedures, and assisting with the development and maintenance of security protocols, manuals, and documentation. The Lead Security Officer also maintains inventory of all security-related equipment and coordinates with the ASM to ensure operational readiness.

The role requires regular, predictable attendance and the ability to respond promptly to emergencies or critical incidents. Lead Security Officers are subject to callback and are required to be on‑call as needed to maintain 24/7 security operations.

Qualifications

Necessary Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • One year of supervision OR two (2) years of previous experience providing security services to a large organization or healthcare facility. Acceptable experience includes security roles in the armed services that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis.

Certification:

  • Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association (AHA), if none must obtain within ninety (90) days of employment hire date.
  • Must maintain and have a valid State Driver’s License with no restrictions.
  • Must complete Defensive Tactics certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must complete Handcuffing certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must successfully complete the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification for Security Officer and Supervisor Level within six (6) months of hire.
