Security Officer – Evening Shift
Position located at Paradise Valley Complete Care, 5316 E Shea Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254. Shift: , Saturday through Tuesday.
Responsibilities- Patrol designated Honor Health properties, screen visitors, and perform other activities related to the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors.
- Protect Honor Health property against theft, fire, vandalism, or other illegal, unsafe, or unauthorized activities.
- Convey information clearly and accurately while maintaining a keen awareness of safety protocols and security measures to ensure a safe and secure environment for all.
- Ensure a safe and secure hospital campus.
- Patrol assigned areas, checking for suspicious activity or safety/fire hazards.
- Investigate and/or report hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to the appropriate leadership personnel.
- Check doors and windows of buildings to ensure they are tightly closed and locked; note in written log any unlocked doors/windows; submit information to supervisor and/or manager.
- Escort people/property to desired destinations when monies, documents or safety of property or persons are a concern.
- Respond to alarms and dispatched calls and take appropriate actions.
- Unlock buildings/doors after checking identification and compliance with hospital policies.
- Enforce organizational policies (i.e., parking, smoking, badge compliance).
- Provide training to staff as needed.
- Assist in emergency situations.
- Act as first responder to disturbances/emergencies such as infant abduction alarms, fire alarms, panic alarms, intruder alarms, restraint calls anywhere in hospital or on hospital grounds.
- Respond to urgent security calls immediately, which may require rapid stair climbing, running/sprinting, moving of heavy equipment and other associated tasks.
- Maintain order, safety, and protect personnel and property during emergencies.
- Interact with and control hostile, belligerent, aggressive individuals involving some element of danger or risk of injury.
- Subdue resisting, aggressive, combative and distressed individuals and, when ordered by proper medical authority and in compliance with hospital policy/procedure, apply appropriate restraint equipment to prevent injury to individual or others.
- Assist law enforcement officers and security leadership with protection details, crowd control, and surveillance at large public events.
- Assist in providing security for mass casualty events including setting up Decon equipment.
- Investigate and/or document incidents.
- Document policy violations in citations or emails.
- Maintain a daily log of activities.
- Relay information as directed.
- Complete required training and annual in‑services.
- Participate in security department training and continuing education programs including, but not limited to, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques, Self Defense Tactics & Techniques leading to certification in the use of specialized equipment.
- Represent Honor Health as a brand ambassador for the company.
- Greet patients/visitors/vendors/staff with a smile.
- Assist any persons on campus grounds needing direction or campus information.
- Assist other departments with helping guests while they are otherwise detained.
- Collaborate with community partners.
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized college or trade school – Preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED – Required.
- 1 year of successful experience in a field related to law enforcement or security in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred but not required.
- Driver License – Required.
- Non Clinical/IAHSS – Certification as a Security Officer – Required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association within 2 months of hire – Required.
- Taser certification within 90 days of hire by Honor Health Public Safety/Certified Taser Instructor 90 Days – Required.
