Position: Corporate Security Officer (10pm-6am)

Overview

Corporate Security Officer – Second Shift (10:00p.m. to 6:00a.m.). This role monitors, protects, and maintains the safety of Nationwide’s corporate environment. Employees must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed and hold a valid Arizona DPS Guard Card license (unarmed or armed as applicable). The position offers a starting salary of $50,000 plus a 15% shift differential and overtime eligibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and screen all visitors and callers to the office buildings and provide requested information.
  • Enforce company security and life‑safety policies.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including workplace violence, accidents, fires, medical emergencies, crimes in progress, and alarm notifications.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and may coordinate with public‑safety officials.
  • Patrol facilities on bike, foot, or vehicle to provide physical security and stop criminal activity.
  • Investigate alarms and emergency calls promptly; may take action to correct any breach of security policy.
  • Write initial loss, stolen, or incident reports and conduct follow‑up investigations using documentation, video, and interviews.
  • Assist management in investigations and testify in court when required, preparing reports and preserving evidence.
  • Operate the access‑control system, maintain the card key database, and create access cards and reports.
  • Escort associates to and from facilities.
  • Perform scheduled inspections of fire extinguishers, standpipe systems, PA systems, elevators, and fire alarms.
  • Operate armed weaponry (if armed) with annual qualification; intervene in situations of imminent risk to associates or customers.
  • Provide security awareness and new‑hire security training to the associate population.
  • Perform courier service to financial institutions for Nationwide Companies.
  • Monitor electronic protection systems, including alarms, CCTV, access control, fire, elevator, and intercom systems.
  • Dispatch security and public‑safety personnel to alarm conditions across the country from the monitoring center.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hardware, software, and data bases; prepare activity reports.
  • Direct vendors during installation of security equipment.
  • Communicate regularly with end users for training and problem resolution.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s or technical degree preferred.
  • At least one year of related security experience.
  • Proven knowledge of corporate safety and security practices, procedures, equipment, firearms, and console operation.
  • Strong personal computer skills and clear verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent judgment, de‑escalation skills, and the ability to provide calm, rational direction.
  • Physical ability to walk, run, stoop, kneel, carry, and lift to perform job duties.
  • Valid Arizona DPS Guard Card license (armed or unarmed).
  • Ability to qualify with a firearm annually; proficiency in safety equipment.
  • Understanding of ADA requirements and ability to adjust duties as required.
Job Conditions

• Shift: Second shift (10:00p.m.–6:00a.m.) with two consecutive days off during the week. Availability for weekends and holidays is required.



Hours:

Standard eight‑hour workday with a paid lunch period.

• Overtime:
Eligible for overtime as a non‑exempt position.



Physical requirements:

Work in good physical condition, able to walk, run, stoop, kneel, lift, and perform emergency duties.

• Background:
Valid credit and/or background check required; yearly criminal background check for all security associates. Random drug and alcohol testing may be conducted per safety‑sensitive position duties.
