Job Summary

This position provides armed security services to Camp Navajo facilities to protect against threats that would justify use of force, to include deadly force. Conducts physical security activities associated with installation access control and critical asset protection. Provides other physical security equipment and services necessary to secure ARNG resources, and personnel as approved by Army Operations Division Protection branch (ARNG-ODP). Actively participates in promoting a continuous improvement of workplace culture, through the use of teamwork, root cause problem solving, standard operating procedures, and review of performance metrics.

Responsibilities
  • Provides armed installation security through control of entry to and egress from the installation/facility via designated access control points (ACP) at the outermost perimeter of the boundary or cantonment area. Access control includes random inspections of privately owned vehicles and personnel entering DoD owned or controlled installations and facilities, including items in the vehicles and items that are carried by personnel.
  • Controls entry to and egress from designated restricted area while maintaining logs of access, including support of CN MWR programs. Conducts vehicle and rail car inspections for deliveries with HAZMAT/explosive/ordnance into the restricted area. Conducts security and escorts for HAZMAT/explosive/ordnance material transported to the restricted area. Supports compliance with Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance program.
  • Provides patrols to ensure security of Mission Essential Vulnerable Areas (MEVAs). Answers and responds to dispatch calls from authorized authorities. Conducts and assists in traffic accident investigations and civil/criminal investigations. Interacts with foreign military and civilian nationals during inspections.
  • Performs security checks of installation/facility perimeters, and sensitive or critical areas to counter criminal, terrorist, and hostile threats. Monitors Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and devices, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). Monitors IDS in support of OOD storage mission. Responds to all IDS alarms on the installation.
  • Serves as first responder to preserve life, limb and eyesight and acts in accordance with the National Incident Management System to emergency response. Provides emergency escorts and access to external emergency responders. Assists in the direction to evacuate installation personnel and secure installation infrastructure during a natural disaster, terrorist incident, industrial accident, or any other emergency event requiring evacuation of personnel.
  • Functions as dispatch officer for on post emergency services and/or serves as first responder to an incident on the installation to preserve life, limb and eyesight and acts in accordance with the National Incident Management System to emergency response. Provides emergency escorts and access to external emergency responders.
  • Provides information to civic/public and/or government identified visitors and directs traffic management through designated traffic plans and/or parking areas consistent with force protection measures as prescribed by regulation and/or installation policies. Operates and maintains emergency response equipment such as patrol vehicles, fire extinguishers, AEDs, generator light sets, traffic cones, barricades, radios, first aid equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Knowledge of:

  • General Access Control Point operating procedures, patrol operations and emergency response.
  • Search & seizure, arrest, use of force procedures.
  • Functional knowledge of personal computer operations in a network environment.
  • Electronic devices (radio and communications, computers, monitors, recording, photography) and other security equipment.
