Summary
Definition: Under general supervision a corrections officer is responsible for performing a variety of tasks relating to the intake, supervision and release of suspects/prisoners held for the Community Court. This Job class is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt. This is a driving position

Examples of duties
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
:
- Knowledge of correctional facility operating rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Knowledge of detainee escort practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of general criminal justice identification techniques, including fingerprinting and photography.
- Skill in oral and written communications.
- Skill in checking a variety of forms, agreements and court orders for accuracy, discrepancies and errors.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department staff, other law enforcement agency staff, and the public.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, guidelines, and policies, and procedures.
- Ability to interpret and understand a variety of rules, regulations, and policies, and procedures.
- Ability to perform a variety of technical law enforcement activities, to include monitoring cameras, intercoms, electronic doors, capturing electronic fingerprints, and effectively utilizing body worn cameras and radios.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, successfully pass thorough background investigation.
- Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of experience and education that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered when filing the position.
