Definition
Definition: Under general supervision from the Plumber Supervisor, provides skilled plumbing services for the department. Assist in inspection, installation, and repairs of plumbing fixtures, lines, pipes for residential service orders projects in accordance with building and safety code regulations.
This job class is treated as FLSA non-exempt and considered a DRIVING position which may be required to work on-call and weekend hours.
- Assist in assembling, installing, testing and repairing plumbing fixtures for in residential service orders and projects, working from blueprints, drawings, work orders, or oral instruction. Assists in installation of all types of piping systems. Works with air, gas, and water lines and water disposal systems.
- Installs tubs, toilets, sinks and any other fixtures pertinent to water or waste systems; cuts, bevels and threads pipe as necessary to perform installation or repair on any of the plumbing systems. Assist in inspecting new plumbing installations for conformity to building and safety codes.
- Assists in topping out and setting of plumbing fixtures.
- Assists in performing underground rough-in.
- Assists in trouble‑shooting plumbing problems and making necessary repairs. Opens clogged drains, replaces valves, washers and any other items as required. Repairs and replaces lawn irrigation systems; performs any and all duties related to the plumbing trade as required by the supervisor.
- Assists in coordinating plumbing work with other residential service orders and projects.
- Assists in preparing material inventory lists for residential service orders and projects.
- Reads and follow sketches, diagrams, work orders, supervisor’s instructions, or blueprints showing location of plumbing fixtures or equipment.
- Safely operates electrical/power/manual tools and equipment, including but not limited to power snake, power threading machine, pipe wrench, hacksaw, soldering torch, sawzall, pipe cutters, right angle drill, tape measure and other equipment used in the plumbing portion of residential service orders and projects.
- Loads and unloads equipment and materials, as needed, for various residential service orders and projects.
- Removes abandoned materials as necessary to facilitate the timely completion of plumbing projects.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance departmental operations.
- Knowledge of general policies, procedures and standards followed in construction trades.
- Knowledge of current OSHA rules and regulations;
- Knowledge of current building and safety codes.
- Knowledge of current Uniform Plumbing Codes.
- Knowledge of proper use of plumbing equipment and tools, including entry‑level knowledge in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and sketches.
- Knowledge of plumbing methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment related to construction and maintenance of single family housing, Community buildings, and SRPMIC infrastructure.
- Knowledge of plumbing principles, concepts and practices related to construction and maintenance of single family housing, Community buildings and SRPMIC infrastructure.
- Knowledge in drain waste and vent systems.
- Knowledge in liquid petroleum gas.
Knowledge in water distribution. - Skill and accuracy in all types of pipe laying.
- Skill in trouble‑shooting plumbing problems.
- Skill in safely operating electrical/power/manual tools and equipment.
- Skill in the proper inspection, installation and repair of plumbing fixtures and equipment.
- Ability to work in dirt and dusty conditions.
- Ability to work in weather‑exposed situation.
- Ability to work at heights up to 50 feet.
- Ability to work in small spaces with little room to move.
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
- Ability to lift, stand, bend, stoop and carry objects, including but not limited to plumbing tools, materials and equipment, weighing 50‑90 pounds and to otherwise physically perform and complete plumbing tasks.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and experience equivalent to two (2) years…
