Maintenance Journeyman

Supports district schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. Performs journeyman level major repairs and routine maintenance at all district facilities, including, but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting and locks. Performs construction projects and installations of major equipment as well as building renovation.

Performs quality journeyman level work in every task performed. Diagnoses and repairs a variety of electrical equipment including motors, electric heat strip units, relays timers and switches. Maintains and repairs special systems, ie, fire, security and intercom systems.

High school diploma or equivalent. Schooling in a building or construction trade, apprenticeship, or a combination of both for journeyman status in one or more of the following trades: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry or locksmithing. Possess or the ability to obtain an EPA refrigerant certification. Basic knowledge of central plant systems such as chillers, pumps, boilers, towers and controls. Ability to work various shifts if needed.

Perform physical activities outside in all weather including the hot sun. Ability to perform strenuous activities that include climbing, bending stooping and lifting in excess of 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
