SUMMARYThe Aircraft Technician Apprentice assists certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technicians in executing routine inspections, structural alterations, preventative maintenance, and unscheduled troubleshooting. All work is completed on the company’s medically configured fleet of Learjet 31,31A, 35A, and 45 aircraft in strict compliance with the carrier's General Operations Manual (GOM), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines.
RELATIONSHIPSInterfaces To:
All employees, vendors and customers
- Supervised Maintenance:
Assist with mechanical and structural removals, installations, repairs, and modifications of airframe components and turbine engines. - Tooling Operations:
Utilize specialized precision tools—including torque wrenches, pneumatic drills, calipers, and rivet guns—to assemble close-tolerance components. - Technical Documentation:
Learn to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications. - Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all completed tasks conform to maintenance manual specifications and are properly documented on company forms under 14 CFR Part 43. - Hangar Upkeep:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while managing the inventory of aviation parts and hazardous shop materials.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. - Mechanical Aptitude:
Basic knowledge of mechanical principles and prior experience operating standard hand tools. - FAA Eligibility:
Must meet the baseline criteria to eventually obtain an FAA A&P certificate (minimum 18 years old, able to read, write, and speak English). - Background Check:
Ability to pass a mandatory 10-year TSA background screening and DOT-regulated drug testing to obtain airport access badges. - Tool Procurement:
Willingness to provide and maintain your own basic starter set of aviation hand tools.
