Sr. Software Engineer - Data Engineering

Position Overview

Early Warning is a leading payment solutions provider. We are looking for a Software Engineer to develop, test, debug and maintain data‑centric features within our high‑performance platform. The role requires collaboration with cross‑functional teams, code quality oversight, ETL processing, and support for AI/ML data pipelines.

• Participate in discussions and implementation of complex capabilities.
• Develop complex features to enhance the core product offerings.
• Manage source code using Git and Git‑flow branching.
• Receive, review, and approve pull requests to maintain high code quality.
• Process real‑time stream and file‑based data through ETL frameworks and persist it to the data store.
• Build aggregations to provision data for AI/ML models and deliver results to customers.
• Document complex design decisions in Confluence.
• Build automated tests integrated into the CI/CD pipeline and provide recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex bugs that arise during development.
• Support risk management and protect system integrity and data confidentiality.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of direct experience in Software Engineering or a comparable role.
• Proficient with Git source control and Git‑flow branching model.
• Experience with big‑data frameworks (required).
• Proficient in ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience with Spark/Scala.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Proficient with SQL.
• Familiarity with modern Dev Ops practices.
• Experience writing automated tests.
• Excellent written and spoken communication.
• Background and drug screening prerequisite.

• Experience migrating on‑prem systems to cloud environments.
• Experience with Python or Java.
• Expertise building highly scalable, high‑performance solutions for large‑scale data processing.

  SQL experience with Redis, HBASE, Aerospike, or similar.
• Fin Tech industry experience.

• Office environment, primarily sedentary with extensive computer use and periods of approximately four hours sitting.
• Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching.
• Ability to lift 10 pounds occasionally.
• Visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment.
• Communication with internal and external customers.

Base salary ranges by location:
- Phoenix, AZ: $118,000 – $152,000 USD per year
- San Francisco, CA: $142,000 – $183,000 USD per year

Additional compensation: discretionary incentive plan.
