Job SummaryThis role delivers complete solutions across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will advise management on project-level issues, guide junior engineers, work independently, and apply technical best practices. You will be a key contributor to the AI‑powered tooling initiative, designing and building intelligent systems that enhance the productivity, reliability, and velocity of Venmo’s Cloud Infrastructure and Dev Ops engineering teams.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff
- Follows well‑established internal conventions and standard procedures
- Understands internal standards & processes and applies them to make technical decisions
- Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions
- May contribute to code & design reviews
- 1+ year(s) relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Our team maintains all user‑facing services as well as production and development systems. We manage Venmo’s infrastructure in operations, automation, security, compliance, and release engineering. The work integrates site‑reliability engineering (SRE) and Dev Ops projects. Responsibilities include overseeing CI/CD infrastructure, developing self‑service secret management systems, creating development environments, building micro‑service scaffolding, writing automated tests, scanning for vulnerabilities, and ensuring that all systems are delivered automatically, thoroughly tested, and secure.
As a software engineer, you will contribute to critical infrastructure and cloud engineering initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers, building tools, automation, and services that power Venmo’s AWS cloud infrastructure.
Technical Stack
: AWS, EKS, Docker, Git Hub Enterprise, Terraform, Git Hub Actions, Data Dog, Bash, Python, Go.
- Contribute to infrastructure features and automation under guidance of senior engineers
- Participate in on‑call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and elevate as appropriate
- Write automation scripts and infrastructure‑as‑code to improve operational efficiency
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, self‑service tooling, and microservices scaffolding
- Learn and apply best practices in cloud engineering, Dev Ops, and SRE
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions
- Bachelor’s in computer science or related field of study
- 1+ year(s) experience in software development or a related field
- Some experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) or container technologies
- Programming and scripting experience (Python, Bash, Go, or similar)
- Exposure to containers and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn

San Jose, California – pay range $ - $ annually.
Additional Locations:
- Austin, Texas – $ - $ annually.
- Scottsdale, Arizona – $ - $ annually.
Additional compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation.
