EHMA builds the software behind Everpower’s family of products. We’re looking for an embedded Android engineer who can work the full stack — from the Android platform (AOSP) up to user-facing applications — on our purpose-built, accessibility-focused, purpose-built tablet and connected-device hardware. You’ll own the device software end to end: bringing up and customizing the platform, integrating hardware, and building the reliable, kiosk-grade apps people depend on every day.
You’ll work on a small, fast-moving team alongside our backend engineers, and contribute to other Android/mobile work across our products as priorities evolve.
- Build and customize the Android platform (AOSP) for our purpose-built tablet hardware — board bring-up, system integration, and platform services.
- Build and maintain the on-device applications, including accessibility-first experiences.
- Integrate with device hardware at a low level and deliver kiosk-grade reliability — lockdown, crash resilience, safe recovery for long-running unattended use.
- Work with the backend team on device provisioning, over-the-air updates, remote configuration, and telemetry.
- Protect proprietary on-device inference code — run sensitive logic in a hardware-backed secure environment (Android Keystore / Strong Box, Trusted Execution Environment) so it resists reverse engineering and tampering.
- Contribute to other Android and mobile initiatives across our product portfolio as needs shift.
- Establishing reliable bring-up, update, and provisioning flows with the backend team.
- Embedded development experience, able to work the full stack — from the Android platform up to user-facing applications.
- Hands‑on experience building AOSP (Android Open Source Project) — customizing and building the Android platform, not just apps.
- Strong C++ and Java; familiarity with Kotlin.
- Experience building for physical / embedded devices and delivering kiosk‑grade reliability.
- Familiarity with device‑management concepts — provisioning, OTA updates, remote config.
- Low‑level hardware interaction — GPIO, MIPI, UART.
- Experience taking a product from birth to launch (0-to-1 / new-product development).
- Residential energy industry experience.
- Accessibility engineering — assistive technology and alternative input.
- Hardware-backed security and on-device model protection (Keystore / Strong Box, TEE, anti‑tamper).
- Regulated or medical‑device software experience.
