Job Overview – Accounting Manager (Insurance)

Compensation: $115,000 – $145,000/year + bonus

Location:

Delaware County, PA

Schedule:

Monday to Friday (In-Office)

Atlantic Group is hiring an Accounting Manager (Insurance) in Delaware County, PA for our client, supporting financial reporting, insurance accounting, and regulatory compliance. In this role, you will lead GAAP and statutory reporting, oversee month-end close, and perform loss reserve analysis while ensuring alignment with U.S. GAAP and STAT standards. You will leverage ERP systems and advanced Excel to support audits, drive reporting accuracy, and improve accounting processes.

Responsibilities

as the Accounting Manager (Insurance)
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and review GAAP and statutory financial statements, including disclosures aligned with SEC reporting requirements.
  • Month-End Close: Oversee monthly and quarterly close processes, including consolidations, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Loss Reserve Analysis: Evaluate insurance loss reserves through actuarial data review and analysis of key assumptions.
  • Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits while maintaining SOX‑compliant controls and documentation.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor staff accountants while driving process improvements across accounting operations.
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager (Insurance)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Experience: 4–10 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on insurance or reinsurance is required.
  • Certification: CPA is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, statutory accounting principles (STAT), SEC reporting, and loss reserve analysis is required.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems such as Oracle and financial reporting tools is required.
  • Skills & Attributes: Demonstrates strong analytical thinking, leadership ability, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex accounting concepts effectively.
