Position Overview
The Records Specialist 1 position with the Department of Corrections at SCI Huntingdon provides an opportunity to support a safe and organized environment by maintaining accurate inmate records and supporting key processes to keep the institution running smoothly.
Responsibilities- Record Maintenance:
Collect information from many sources to update and verify inmate records. - Information Review:
Examine court orders and related documents to determine proper actions for release, placement changes, or sentence credit. - Data Accuracy:
Ensure records in the Inmate Records System are correct and updated after sentence recalculations. - Identification Tasks:
Interview, photograph, and fingerprint inmates during intake, release, or when needed. - Transport Coordination:
Arrange and confirm proper authorization for inmate transport or release and verify the identity of transporting officials.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Eligibility for full retirement at age 60 or 65.
- No telework option.
- Starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes) for new Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employees.
- Minimum two years of clerical or correctional custodial experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Successful completion of mandatory basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
- Proof of Pennsylvania residency.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
