Clerical Assistant 2 – Westmoreland County Assistance Office
The Westmoreland County Assistance Office in the Department of Human Services seeks a Clerical Assistant 2 who will assist clients, handle applications, and keep program records organized.
Responsibilities:
- Client Greeting:
Greet clients, gather information, and distribute the correct applications. - Application Review:
Check completed applications for accuracy and completeness. - Document Handling:
Copy client information, scan and attach applications, and shred outdated materials. - Computer Processing:
Use system tools to file clear, process applications, and route them to energy workers. - Phone Support:
Retrieve messages from the LIHEAP phone system and return calls to clients. - Program Assistance:
Perform tasks that support crisis program work, including faxing information to vendors.
- Full‑time, seasonal employment, 37.5 hours per week. Seasonal employment runs approximately 6‑8 months during fall and winter. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1‑hour lunch. Travel and overtime as needed.
- Work Conditions:
Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. Employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. - Telework:
This position may be eligible to telework part time. Details will be discussed during interview. Must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside PA. Telework is subject to change. - Salary:
New employees who are new to employment within Commonwealth of PA will begin at starting hourly rate of $18.83 (before taxes). (

- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title) OR graduation from high school OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must meet PA residency requirements.
- Hiring preference will be given to candidates who live within Westmoreland County.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Conditional offer requires submission of criminal history reports.
- Must pass a background investigation.
