The Lead Automotive Detailer cleans and refurbishes new, used, and service vehicles, following Company and/or manufacturer specifications and time allowances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Greet and welcome all customers in a genuinely friendly and courteous manner. Assist all customers promptly and professionally.
- Restore the appearance of vehicles to new or like-new condition to the best of your ability.
- Direct daily lot organization with input from General Manager or General Sales Manager.
- Work with General Manager, Fixed Operations & Parts Managers to ensure proper chemical use, training and ordering. Dispatch work to Detail team members based on priorities outlined by the General Manager and Sales Manager.
- Work directly with the Sales Managers and the Fixed Operations Manager to accommodate work dispatch for internals. Communicate any maintenance needs or supplies needed with the General Manager or Parts Manager.
- Install disposable seat covers, steering wheel cover, and floor mats in vehicles arriving for service.
- Apply wax to auto body, and wipe or buff surface.
- Wash vehicle exterior, clean interior and exterior windows, and wipe down doorjambs.
- Vacuum interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris.
- Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.
- Apply revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treat fabrics with spot and stain‑resistant chemicals.
- Cleans engine and engine compartment with steam‑cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents.
- Apply special‑purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer's recommendations.
- Inspect vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation.
- Restore appearance of engine area, rugs, upholstery, and painted surfaces.
- Use touch‑up paint, dyes, and other appropriate materials as needed.
- Use proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.
- Fill vehicle with fuel.
- Apply dressing on tires and tire wells.
- Be responsible for preparation and application of vehicle protection packages.
- Replace missing or defective small parts.
- Maintain showroom and stock vehicles in a clean and presentable condition at all times. Ensure proper stickers are displayed in the vehicle's window.
- Remove all window stickers on sold vehicles.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Basic automotive knowledge required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
