This role helps operate and maintain the boiler plant while supervising an inmate work crew to support safe and efficient facility operations. As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will perform the following duties:

• Plant Operation:
  Maintain boilers, chillers, and cooling towers during routine and emergency conditions
• Equipment Maintenance:
  Operate and service pumps, fans, and control systems to ensure proper function
• Water Testing:
  Test boiler water chemistry and track chemical inventories and logs
• Crew Supervision:
  Oversee inmate workers and ensure safety, tool control, and compliance with regulations
• Documentation Tasks:
  Complete required paperwork, inventories, and communications with supervisors
• General Housekeeping:
  Clean assigned areas and maintain a safe work environment

• Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week
• Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Tuesday – Saturday, or 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Sunday – Thursday. Your work hours will be determined at the time of hire.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework:
  You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:
  Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

• Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
