Contract-to-Hire Opportunity | Nationwide Travel

Our client is seeking an experienced Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Superintendent to oversee field operations on large-scale utility infrastructure projects throughout the United States. This role is responsible for driving safe, efficient, and profitable project execution while leading subcontractors, coordinating field activities, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience in transmission and substation construction, excellent communication skills, and a proven commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily field operations for T&D construction projects to ensure safe, timely, and cost‑effective project completion.
  • Supervise and coordinate construction activities related to:
    • High voltage transmission lines
    • Transmission line steel and wood structures
    • Drilled piers and spread footings
    • Grounding systems
    • Environmental compliance requirements
    • Substation equipment and structures
    • Substation electrical systems and controls
  • Oversee subcontractor performance, scheduling, productivity, and contractual compliance.
  • Coordinate field construction activities to maintain continuity of work and maximize efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with project management to implement project procedures, standards, and working documents.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Review and audit site‑specific safety documentation including:
    • Pre‑Task Analyses (PTAs)
    • Task Safety Observations (TSOs)
  • Promote and enforce company safety standards and ensure overall project safety compliance.
  • Complete daily field reports and document project progress through daily site photographs.
  • Review subcontractor 3‑week look‑ahead schedules and identify potential risks or concerns.
  • Develop and maintain marked‑up and as‑built drawings for record documentation.
  • Assist in responding to RFIs and support field engineering coordination.
  • Verify installed quantities, subcontractor progress, and work‑hour tracking.
  • Ensure material deliveries meet project specifications and are stored appropriately.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC personnel to verify welder qualifications and construction quality standards.
  • Witness equipment setting, alignment, and testing activities.
  • Conduct system walk‑downs before, during, and after hydrostatic testing.
  • Develop and manage punch lists and verify completion of corrective actions.
  • Ensure current drawing revisions are utilized in the field at all times.
  • Manage field change orders and support execution of scope modifications.
  • Oversee field staffing, craft supervision, material management, and tool management.
  • Read and interpret isometric drawings, structural drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects OR
  • Associate Degree with 9+ years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 11+ years of construction management or craft supervision experience on T&D projects
Required Skills & Experience

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance
  • Experience managing subcontractors and field operations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Must meet company driving requirements
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide
