Assistant Construction Project Coordinator – North Central Region, Pennsylvania
Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking an experienced Assistant Construction Project Coordinator to manage capital improvement projects for Commonwealth agencies in the North Central Region of Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities- Coordinate projects: oversee construction activities, conduct job conferences, and resolve on‑site issues.
- Provide technical guidance to outside professionals and contractors.
- Negotiate and approve change orders within specified limits; represent the Department in claims and disputes.
- Ensure compliance by monitoring project progress against schedules and approved plans, specs, and regulations.
- Maintain technical and administrative records, generate documents and reports, and use standard office and construction software.
- Communicate effectively with client agencies and stakeholders.
- Home‑headquartered location; daily travel to construction sites in Bedford, Blair, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lycoming, McKean, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Potter, Snyder, Tioga, or Union counties.
- Occasional travel to Bradford, Cambria, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Forest, Franklin, Indiana, Jefferson, Schuylkill, Somerset, Sullivan, or Warren counties.
- Candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, Perry, or Snyder County prior to employment.
Full‑time employment. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch. The position is home‑headquartered, requiring a secure high‑speed internet connection.
Starting annual salary: $60,714.00 for new employees to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Qualifications- Four years of professional building construction administration, planning, or project engineering experience for renovations and new construction of commercial, institutional, or educational buildings; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Active non‑commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license.
- Willingness and ability to travel to the specified counties.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Experience with on‑site renovation and new construction for commercial, institutional, and educational buildings.
- Knowledge of Critical Path Method construction schedules.
- Experience on projects with multiple prime contractors.
- Ability to write correspondence to contractors, design professionals, and clients regarding project issues.
- Experience conducting construction meetings and negotiating change orders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or construction management software.
