Communications Construction General Foreman
The Communications Construction General Foreman is responsible for scheduling, workface planning, coordinating, supervising, assisting in cost control and billing, and filling in for the supervisor in his or her absence. Essential functions and responsibilities include checking for construction quality and reporting as needed, working with the Project Supervisor to resolve quality problems within the project, coordinating construction plans with the Project Supervisor and relaying scope of work to crews and subcontractors, completing and maintaining all necessary paperwork for projects assigned by the Project Supervisor, keeping the Project Supervisor informed of project progress and developments, operating equipment or performing laborer duties as needed, serving as liaison between the Company and the customer and utilities, assisting the Project Supervisor in ordering and tracking construction materials, maintaining assigned equipment, tools, and vehicle, completing daily equipment safety inspections and maintenance checks, accurately completing all required company documentation for each assignment according to established company standards and procedures, performing work in a safe manner and complying with all established company safety policies and procedures, and performing other duties and tasks as assigned in order to help team complete a project.
Knowledge, skills and abilities include experience in coaxial and fiber installation, cable construction, and maintenance of both aerial and underground plant, ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and system design documents, ability to work 10+ hours in a day when necessary, willingness to work outside in varying weather conditions, ability to work efficiently, independently and collaboratively within a team environment, capability of moving materials/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds, ability to ascend/descend a ladder, and being reliable, responsible, and dependable with work attendance.
Required education and experience include a high school diploma or equivalent certification and 3-5 years of experience working in telecommunications construction. Additional eligibility qualifications include passing a pre-employment drug test and criminal background screen, and completing and passing a DOT Physical.
