How you make a differenceThe Dental Assistant is responsible for providing documentation of dental services to the dentist or their designee. This involves maintaining dental charts, keeping records of dental findings, and scheduling patients for dental appointments. By ensuring accurate documentation, dental assistants enable dentists to monitor the provision of dental services and provide the best possible care to their patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide chair-side assistance during dental procedures, sterilize instruments, and mix restorative materials as needed
- Perform intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays, develop and mount x-ray films
- Maintain x-ray, processor, autoclave, and dental unit(s) according to specifications
- Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, order supplies and ensure setup of trays for patients
- Complete daily instrument count sheet, perform dental screenings, and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the dental clinic through careful practices
Education
- Associate’s Degree or Certification in Dental Technology from an accredited school
Experience
- Experience with in a private or public dental practice as a Dental Technician or Registered Dental Assistant
- Consistent sound judgment with dental decisions within the correctional healthcare environment
Licenses/Certifications
- Obtain and maintain CPR certification
- Attain and maintain all State mandated certifications or trainings
