Staff Physician - Torrance State Hospital

The Department of Human Services is seeking a skilled Staff Physician 2 to join our medical team at Torrance State Hospital. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive medical care, including diagnosis and treatment, health maintenance, and preventive services for assigned patients.

• Conduct thorough evaluations, perform detailed medical examinations, and make accurate diagnoses.
• Prescribe appropriate treatment plans and interpret consultation reports, laboratory results, and other diagnostic findings.
• Deliver medical care to patients in assigned areas, conduct daily unit rounds, and assess and treat acutely ill or injured patients.
• Order necessary laboratory tests, imaging, and specialty consultations, and provide timely follow-up care as needed.
• Identify patients’ medical needs and coordinate transfers to acute care hospitals for emergency or non‑emergency medical treatment when required.

• Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Evening, weekend, and holiday on‑call hours may be required.

• Salary:
  Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

• Three years of experience and/or training in the practice of medicine.

• Must be in possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Medicine Board or the State Osteopathic Medicine Board.

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
• Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
