Position: Head Teacher – Preschool (Ages 2 Years 7 Months to 3 Years)

The West Hill School is a unique coeducational preschool for children ages 2 years 7 months to 5 years, accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS). Founded in 1966 and situated on over two beautiful acres, West Hill was built especially for young children.

At West Hill, talented and dedicated staff, enthusiastic children, involved parents/guardians, and a supportive community join forces to create a positive, innovative environment where children engage in joyful learning.

We are seeking a warm, experienced, and dedicated Head Teacher to lead a preschool classroom serving children ages 2 years 7 months to 3 years. This collaborative role is in a school setting—not a daycare—and focuses on early childhood education and developmentally appropriate practices, grounded in a commitment to high standards and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a nurturing, engaging classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and language development of young children.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
  • Partner closely with the other teacher to support a class of 14 children.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Observe and assess student progress, maintaining clear and thoughtful communication with parents.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with young children (ages 2–3) in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and of developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to create a warm, caring, supportive, engaging, and structured classroom environment.
  • Minimum of

    B.Ed.; a degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
