The Early Head Start Teacher (Infant/Toddler Teacher) is responsible for working collaboratively with his/her partner Teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with a total of 6-8 children of mixed ages from birth to 3 years of age.
The position also works with a team of other classroom teachers and family members to implement the Creative Curriculum for Infant/Toddlers to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities.

- Develop individual learning plans for each child, including goal setting based on identified needs and prescriptions for objectives and activities to meet established child outcomes.
- Plan and implement lesson plans that advance the cognitive and physical development of children, promote progress toward school readiness goals—including social‑emotional, language, emergent literacy and math, and problem‑solving abilities—follow the program’s written curriculum, providing ample opportunities for natural play and hands‑on experiences, and reflecting the learning styles of individual children in the group, while supporting the social and emotional development of children.
- Implement developmentally and linguistically appropriate experiences appropriate to age, language, and culture of children served.
- Collaborate with a partner Teacher in the preparation of daily lesson plans; post them for parents, volunteers, and visitors in the classroom.
- Implement daily lesson plans in response to children’s needs and interests, incorporating observations, anecdotal record keeping, and knowledge of early childhood development and key experiences.
- Provide support for learning and language development through active facilitation, expansion of cognition and communication, and modeling and supporting high‑quality language.
- Implement child‑centered daily routines and learning environments that encourage the development of age‑appropriate positive social interactions, active exploration/engagement in learning, and self‑motivation (curiosity) to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.
- Provide emotional support by establishing a positive climate, being aware of and responsive to children, and encouraging child expression and autonomy.
- Use strategies for behavior guidance, such as communicating clear expectations, being proactive, and using effective and positive redirection; provide positive guidance and discipline supporting children as they acquire readiness skills for kindergarten and beyond.
- Infant/Toddler CDA or AA/BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or willingness to obtain Infant/Toddler CDA within one year of employment.
- Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
- Travel required locally or long‑distance up to 10% of the time for work‑related meetings and functions.
- Must have reliable transportation.
This position pays $38,924 annually.
