Special Education Teacher – Neshamiy Public School District
Interviewing for fall 2026, position starts 08/19/20. DESS partners with child-serving institutions to provide services in early learning, behavioral and mental health treatment, academic interventions, and prevention programming.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Special Education Teacher you will work with students with autistic support needs within the Neshamiy School District. In addition to supporting a Devereux Educational Strategies and Solutions program and providing specialized instruction that enables achievement of individualized educational, social, and emotional goals, you will: support the implementation and evaluation of direct and support services in an elementary school autistic support classroom;
apply knowledge of PDE, IDEA, and Chapter 14 regulations; develop and manage IEPs, implement positive behavior support strategies, classroom management, and MTSS/PBIS; establish a supportive learning environment; evaluate and assess student progress; provide guidance to support staff; and coordinate delivery of special education services for each student’s IEP.
Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Full‑time role aligned with the school calendar covering a 10‑month period with opportunities for extended summer program work.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field required;
Master’s degree preferred. PA Department of Education certification as teacher preferred. - At least one year of experience in an educational setting working with individuals with autism and/or other special education populations.
- Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office applications, and experience with data collection/analysis platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, and lift 10 lbs or more; ability to present verbally and written; develop visual media.
- Travel required as needed; ability to use wrists/hands/legs repeatedly, including long periods of office equipment use.
