Job Description

The Upper School Spanish teacher will be responsible for providing a student-centered, supportive approach in Spanish instruction for students in grades 7-12.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides direct instruction to students in Spanish. Core classes include Spanish 1-4 and Introduction to Spanish for 8th grade students.
  • Plans and executes daily lessons for Spanish language students in grades 8-12.
  • Develops an ongoing working knowledge of each individual student’s educational and emotional needs.
  • Effectively collaborates with learning specialists to integrate recommended teaching strategies into content area classes.
  • Communicates with parents to address learning concerns of students.
  • Provides individual student assessment as needed.
  • Shows evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records that are reflective of a student’s performance and growth in knowledge.
  • Develops and maintains genuine, positive and consistent communication with parents.
  • Contributes to the campus community through participation in extracurricular and club positions.
  • Practices professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement.
  • Participates in curriculum writing and other developmental programs and activities.
  • Remains current in knowledge of the latest language teaching trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Professional Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required for consideration.
  • 7-12 Spanish teaching experience.
  • Special Education Teaching Certification and/or Reading Specialist Certification.
  • Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus as well as mentoring experience.
  • The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.
