Graduate Assistant

The Graduate Assistant (GA) supports faculty and staff at the Lake Region Center with a variety of tasks related to research, teaching, and administrative duties. This role provides graduate students with valuable professional experience while they pursue their advanced studies. The GA collaborates closely with faculty and staff to help achieve departmental objectives, encourage academic involvement, and contributes to the success of departmental initiatives.

  • Teaching Support:
    Assist with preparing course materials, such as lectures, assignments, and exams. Provide support during lectures, labs, or discussion sessions. Grade assignments and exams under the supervision of faculty.
  • Departmental Support:
    Departmental specific support listed.
  • Administrative Tasks:
    Help organize departmental events, workshops, and conferences. Provide general administrative assistance, including responding to emails, scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and updating databases.
  • Student Support/

    Collaboration:

    Student support is specific to each department, if applicable
  • Research/Data Support:
    Assist with data collection specific to each department
  • Communication and Outreach:
    Draft, edit, and facilitate communication such as flyers, newsletters, and social media.
  • Other Duties:
    Complete additional tasks as assigned by the department, faculty, or supervisor that support professional development and academic goals.
  • Peak Times:
    Works during high impact periods, which include, but are not limited to: annual forum, graduation, orientations, week prior to the start of the semester, first two weeks of the semester, last two weeks of the semester prior to finals, and advising periods.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment/accepted in a graduate program in Higher Education, Organizational Leadership & Management, Professional Studies, or MBA
  • Strong academic standing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
