Role DescriptionThe Fashion Designer Trainer will be responsible for designing and delivering training programs that build practical fashion design skills for learners at Lodha Foundation. This is a contract, on-site role based in Centre County, PA, requiring daily presence at the training location. Typical responsibilities include planning curricula and lesson plans, conducting classroom and studio sessions, demonstrating techniques in sketching, pattern making, fabric selection, and garment construction, and overseeing hands‑on projects.
The Trainer will assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching methods to different skill levels. Additional duties may include coordinating with program managers, maintaining training materials and equipment, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in fashion design, including concept development, sketching, pattern cutting, draping, fabric selection, and garment construction.
- Experience in training, teaching, or mentoring in fashion or related creative fields, with the ability to explain techniques clearly and adjust to varied learning styles.
- Strong portfolio showcasing original designs and technical skills, preferably with experience in ready‑to‑wear, couture, or sustainable fashion.
- Knowledge of current fashion trends, design software (such as Adobe Illustrator or similar tools), and basic textile science.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster an inclusive, respectful, and motivating classroom environment.
- Well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple learners and projects simultaneously in an on-site setting.
- Diploma or degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- Prior experience working with community‑focused or nonprofit programs is an advantage, as is an interest in education, skill development, and social impact.
