DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater treatment plant while overseeing an assigned inmate work crew. It involves monitoring equipment, performing tests, and ensuring safe and effective plant performance. As a Corrections Water Treatment Plant Foreman, you will perform the following duties:
- Plant Operation:
Maintain daily water treatment plant functions under normal and emergency conditions using manual and automatic systems - Equipment Maintenance:
Operate and service pumps, motors, valves, compressors, filters, and related equipment - Water Testing:
Test influent and effluent chemistry, maintain logs, and track chemical and supply inventory - Documentation Tasks:
Complete paperwork, inventories, and documentation while communicating issues to supervisors - Crew Oversight:
Direct inmate workers, monitor movement, and maintain safe and secure work conditions
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Wednesday - Sunday

You will not have the option to telework in this position - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). - One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant
- You must possess a valid certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a water treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C with subclasses 1, 7, 8, and 11
- You must possess a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
