Job Summary
Generally responsible for the total delivery of services safely, on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations on moderately complex projects. Requires progressive experience in construction management and the use of project controls for cost, schedule and quality. Work at this level is performed with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Familiarity with and utilization of departmental standards.
- Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a task.
- Extensive knowledge of construction safety requirements, with a commitment to a zero‑accident environment.
- Ensure contractor activities are planned and executed with safety first.
- Responsible for the safe performance of all contractors on assigned projects.
- Consult with design leaders and follow up to ensure efficient progress and quality of technical contractual activities on one or more projects.
- Promote continued relationships with clients.
- Participate in field construction efforts, design‑phase services, and all subcontracting, as well as all major technical, cost, scheduling, and performance decisions.
- Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly.
- Provide on‑site assistance during startup.
- Coordinate work activities with other staff members and discipline leads.
- Consult with design leaders to ensure smooth flow of vital information for scheduled completion of the project.
- Advise the senior engineer concerning identified design or scope changes.
- Review and check vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for input.
- Review construction specifications and fabrication drawings for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate contractor activities to avoid lost time due to problem resolutions or lack of direction.
- Monitor contractor resource assignments to ensure correct numbers of resources are assigned to the work.
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
- Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire‑retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university highly preferred.
- General Contractors License highly preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industrial construction management or project‑related experience.
- Ability to lead a small team to deliver on commitments.
- Knowledge of Hargrove project execution procedures.
- Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.
- Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.
- Demonstrated proficiency in complex project management.
- Comprehensive understanding of all engineering disciplines, procurement and construction processes.
- Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.
- Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.
- Ability to handle stress with poise.
- Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.
- Ability to delegate authority appropriately.
- Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and structure accountability.
- Ability to set priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with team orientation.
- Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.
- Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
