A Fortune 500 electric utility headquartered in Akron, Ohio is seeking a Reliability Engineer to support distribution system operations across Pennsylvania. This role is responsible for assessing and improving system reliability, analyzing electrical infrastructure performance, and developing long-term strategies to ensure safe and reliable service for customers.

The Reliability Engineer will partner closely with operations, engineering, and field personnel to identify reliability concerns, drive infrastructure improvements, and support regulatory and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and improve electrical distribution system reliability performance across Pennsylvania operating areas.
  • Develop and maintain strategic reliability plans and long-term infrastructure improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze outage data, circuit lockouts, device interruptions (DEMI), customers experiencing multiple interruptions (CEMI), and worst-performing circuits.
  • Prepare and present reliability performance reports, regulatory reports, and engineering analyses.
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, and implementation recommendations for reliability improvement projects.
  • Support customer inquiries and power quality investigations.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify remediation needs for inoperable distribution assets.
  • Maintain familiarity with state regulatory requirements related to distribution inspection and maintenance programs.
  • Provide technical support to the Distribution Control Center to promote safe and reliable system operations.
  • Support storm restoration efforts through operational, analytical, or dispatch-related responsibilities.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as business needs require.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 0 to 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, utility operations, maintenance practices, and reliability engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the service territory and support storm restoration activities when needed.
