Financial Accountant

Dates: Immediate start (December onwards) for an initial period of 6 months

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 09:00 - 17:00

Rate: Hourly day rate of £34.98

Location: Hybrid working, 2 days required in the office per week (base being Kingfisher House, Huntingdon)

Department and Directorate: Leading the Financial Accounts and Income team, with an extra focus on covering the Assistant Director of Finance role. Responsibilities include ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet, overseeing payroll, payments, receivables, SBS transactions, monthly financial close, board reporting, NHSE submission, and year-end accounts.

Job Description / Duties:

  • Resolution of payroll issues
  • Completion of Charity review currently being carried out by Trust auditors (Azets)
  • Daily oversight of outsourced Operational Financial Services to NHS SBS; setup and payment of suppliers, transactional procurement (requisitions and purchase orders), payroll, and treasury management
  • Ensuring compliance in producing statutory returns internally and externally (month and year-end accounts, charity accounting, VAT returns)
  • Supporting Trust-wide financial planning of the balance sheet and cash flow
  • Ensuring the integrity of the Trust's financial reporting system to support accurate records of the financial position
  • Debt collection from salary over payments
  • Budget holder training in financial management areas such as cash management, debtors, and capital expenditure
  • Financial reconciliations and information provision, advising on technical matters such as VAT, capital, and lease accounting
