Hours:
Monday - Friday: 8AM-5PM (Additional hours as necessary to meet the objectives of the department)
Assumes a leadership role in the development of new business in the brokerage, employee benefit and fixed/variable insurance services as offered through the independent broker dealer. Provides functional guidance and training of less experienced officers, licensed assistants, and other bank personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities- Initiates contacts for developing and closing brokerage services accounts by calling on existing bank customers identified through the internal referral program.
- During customer meetings, explains the bank’s brokerage services, discusses the advantages of proper planning, and obtains the necessary information to make sound financial recommendations.
- Coaches retail employees on the features and benefits of brokerage services products offered to their customers.
- Provides employees with scripts or other means to assist them in directing referrals of existing bank customers to the Financial Planner.
- Plans and coordinates outside business development opportunities such as seminars, mailings, and other special programs.
- Maintains Series 7, Series 66 (or 63 and 65) and PA Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Licenses.
- Manages and mentors fully licensed sales assistants working within the Brokerage Services area.
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with external referral sources such as accountants, attorneys, and social acquaintances.
- Maintains a high quality of professional advice by completing industry mandated continuing education requirements.
- Participates in community activities to enhance the image of the Bank.
- Maintains a good working relationship with all bank employees.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and the organization.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Requires a four-year college degree or equivalent.
Required LicensesFINRA Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) PA. Life Accident and Health Insurance.
ExperienceFive to ten years of general and specialized experience, specifically up to 10 years of investment-related experience plus continuing study and education working toward one of several designations (e.g., CFP, ChFC, CW, CEBS).
Physical Demands- Operates a keypad device: 40% of the day.
- Travels: 40% of the day.
- Standing: 10% of the day – branch training/meeting customer.
- Sitting: 80% of the day – during sales presentations/customer meetings and preparing and research.
- Walking: 10% of the day.
- Routinely lifts 5 lbs. 2-3 times per day.
- Uses manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 40% of the business day.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18”–20” for computer work and travel.
